Meet 14-year-old Jean! This social 8th grader originally hails from Haiti, but has spent nearly his entire life in Montana.
Among Jean’s favorite activities are Special Olympic sports, bocce ball, soccer and bike riding. But this young man can also be content finding a good book at the library or creating with Legos.
Routine is extremely important to Jean. It will be vital for his family to understand that daily consistency is key to helping him to function at his best. When at his public school, Jean does his coursework in a self-contained classroom. This simply means that he is learning in a smaller group of students and receives extra supports from teachers to guide him through the material.
Due to a road marked by much difficulty, Jean needs to be the only child living in the home and will need to have a parent waiting for him when he arrives home from school each day. When asked what he would like in a family, Jean shared that his family doesn’t need to be of his same race and… oh… he would love a family with a grandma – now there’s a guy who knows what’s important!
